About the 182R
The Textron Aviation 182R is an American single-engined, fixed-wing light airplane designed for personal transport and utility roles. Built by Cessna, this four-seat aircraft accommodates a pilot and passengers, with an option for additional seating in the baggage area. It suits private owners and operators seeking a reliable, versatile high-wing machine featuring a tricycle undercarriage and all-metal construction with composite fairings.
Originating as a nosewheel-equipped derivative of an earlier model, the aircraft entered the market in the mid-fifties and evolved through numerous iterations incorporating structural refinements, expanded cabin dimensions, and revised tail configurations. Manufacturing took place domestically as well as internationally under license in countries including Argentina and France. Following a temporary suspension of assembly lines, production resumed, and ongoing updates have included experiments with alternative diesel powerplants designed to run on heavy fuels.
