About the 182N
The Textron Aviation 182N is an American type-certificated, single-engine fixed-wing aircraft designed as a four-seat light airplane, with the provision to add a pair of child seats in the baggage area. Produced by Cessna, it utilizes an air-cooled flat-six powerplant paired with a constant-speed propeller and features an all-metal airframe complemented by fiberglass or thermoplastic cowlings and wingtips.
First appearing in the nineteen-fifties as a tricycle gear iteration of an earlier model, the type evolved through numerous variants encompassing fuselage widenings, modified tails, and gross weight increases. Production experienced pauses and restarts over the decades, and international manufacturing also took place in countries such as France and Argentina. Alongside standard aviation gasoline powerplants, experimental diesel iterations and specialized utility configurations have been explored.
