About the 24-400
The Piper 24-400 is an American single-engine, low-wing monoplane of all-metal semimonocoque construction, equipped with retractable tricycle landing gear. It typically offers seating for four or six occupants and serves as a classic touring and cross-country aircraft.
Designed and built by Piper Aircraft, the type first took to the air in the mid-fifties and formed the cornerstone of the manufacturer's product lineup for many years. Several engine upgrades and variants were introduced over its production run, including higher-powered configurations and turbocharged versions. Manufacturing ended abruptly when severe flooding from a hurricane destroyed the plant, tooling, and stored airframes, leading the company to abandon the line in favor of newer designs.
