About the PA-28R-300 Pillán

The Piper PA-28R-300 Pillán is a single-engine, fixed-wing military trainer designed for student and instructor pilots sitting in a tandem arrangement. Originating in the United States, it was developed to replace aging fleets and was subsequently assembled in Chile and Spain to serve various armed forces.

Piper Aircraft engineered the prototype using a modified fuselage with wings stressed for aerobatics, with initial flights taking place in the early nineteen-eighties. Following initial testing and prototype deliveries, manufacturing shifted to an international facility where a substantial number of airframes were produced. Variants include primary and instrument trainers, single-seat aerobatic models, and turboprop-powered versions.

The PA-28R-300 Pillán is a variant of the Piper PA-28. Other variants: PA-28-235, PA-28R-200 Cherokee Arrow.
