About the CH-640 Zodiac
Designed by Chris Heintz and manufactured by Zenair, the Zenair CH-640 Zodiac is a Canadian single-engine, fixed-wing light aircraft distributed in kit form for amateur construction. Intended primarily for private aviators and touring enthusiasts, this low-wing monoplane features tricycle landing gear and a cabin layout configured to seat four individuals.
The aircraft was developed from an earlier two-seat certified design by enlarging structural dimensions to accommodate a higher gross weight and a more powerful engine. Constructed primarily from aluminum, the airframe utilizes a cantilever wing structure equipped with flaps and gull-winged doors for cabin access. Factory and quick-build kit options have been assembled by amateur builders around the globe, with dozens of completed examples successfully taking to the air.
