About the 15 Sedan
The Aeronca 15 Sedan is an American single-engine, fixed-gear light aircraft featuring a high-wing layout and a four-seat cabin. Produced by Aeronca Aircraft, it suits personal transport as well as utility missions such as bush flying, serving as the largest model and final design put into production by the company.
Developed using welded metal tubing combined with wooden formers and fabric coverings, the aircraft carried forward the brand's traditional triangular fuselage cross-section while introducing all-metal strut-braced wings. Its landing gear utilizes a conventional tailwheel setup with bungee cords for shock absorption rather than oleo struts. Alongside the standard landplane version, a seaplane variant was also certified featuring an extra entry door. Many examples remain active today for private flying, supported by the current design owner.
This page covers the Aeronca 15AC, 15ACX: the same aircraft under other designations.
