About the Dhc-1 Chipmunk Mk 21
The De Havilland Canada DHC-1 Chipmunk Mk 21 is a fixed-wing, type-certificated primary trainer aircraft originating from Canada. Designed with a tandem, two-seat configuration and powered by a single engine, it suits flight training and civilian aerobatic pursuits, utilizing a low-wing layout and conventional tailwheel landing gear.
Conceived shortly after the Second World War as the manufacturer's initial postwar aviation venture, the prototype flew in May 1946. It was widely adopted by military air arms, including the air forces of Canada and the United Kingdom, where large numbers were built under licence. Long after military retirement, hundreds remain airworthy worldwide under private ownership.
The Dhc-1 Chipmunk Mk 21 is a variant of the De Havilland Canada Dhc-1. Other variants: Dhc-1 Chipmunk 22, Dhc-1 Chipmunk 22 (Lycoming), Dhc-1 Chipmunk 23 (Lycoming), Dhc-1A Chipmunk, Dhc-1B-2.
