About the Atl
The Robin ATL is a French single-engine fixed-wing aircraft built primarily for flying clubs. Featuring a low-wing monoplane layout with a distinctive V-tail and a large bubble canopy offering great outward vision, it suits pilots seeking an economical trainer. It accommodates two occupants and relies on a horizontally opposed engine.
The manufacturer initiated the project to supply a low-cost trainer for subsidised French flying clubs. After the prototype flew, testing revealed vibration issues with the original three-cylinder radial engine, leading to a switch to a converted car engine. Early models suffered from engine troubles that required recalls and hindered export sales. A later variant introduced for the German market featured dual ignition. Manufacturing wrapped up after completing over one hundred aircraft.
This page covers the Robin ROBIN ATL: the same aircraft under other designations.
