About the Mfi-9 Junior

The Bölkow MFI-9 Junior is a light fixed-wing aircraft produced in Sweden and under licence in West Germany, featuring a shoulder-wing layout and a tricycle undercarriage. It provides an enclosed cockpit with seating for two occupants and suits private owners and trainers.

The aircraft was originally designed by an engineer working in his spare time while residing in the United States, before he returned to Sweden to join Malmö Flygindustri. Subsequent variants included dedicated trainer versions, and hundreds of units were constructed under licence by a German firm. Numerous examples continue to survive in private hands across Scandinavia, Europe, and other regions.
