About the Mfi-9
The Andreasson MFI-9 is a Swedish fixed-wing light aircraft featuring a single air-cooled flat-four piston engine and a tricycle undercarriage. Designed for general utility, it suits private owners and flying clubs, offering side-by-side or dual-occupant seating layouts depending on the exact version.
The initial prototype was conceived and flown in the United States by its designer during his spare time before he returned to Sweden to work with Malmö Flygindustri. The design incorporated forward-swept shoulder wings to enhance occupant visibility ahead of the spar. Later variants introduced a larger cockpit and increased power output. Alongside Scandinavian production, hundreds of examples were constructed under licence in West Germany, with numerous survivors remaining active among private owners across Europe, New Zealand, and the United States.
