The Cessna 162 Skycatcher is an American high-wing, strut-braced light-sport aircraft featuring a tricycle undercarriage and side-by-side seating for two occupants. Produced for flight instruction and private ownership, the layout uses a single piston engine paired with a fixed-pitch propeller and advanced digital flight displays.

The manufacturer studied the feasibility of the light-sport category before launching the program, and the prototype achieved its maiden flight shortly afterward. Initial promotional events generated immense interest and substantial order tallies. However, customer enthusiasm waned due to cost increases and performance limitations, leading to widespread cancellations. Production was ultimately halted, and remaining unsold inventory was permanently retired.
