About the D140E

The Jodel D140E is a single-engine, fixed-wing light touring monoplane with a traditional tailwheel configuration, built in France by Société Aéronautique Normande as a development of earlier designs. It accommodates five occupants, making it well-suited for private owners and aero clubs performing touring and utility tasks.

The prototype made its maiden flight during the late nineteen-fifties, leading to factory-produced examples alongside amateur-built variants. Military interest resulted in orders for transport and glider towing duties from the French Air Force. Alongside numerous factory completions, a smaller group of aircraft has been constructed from amateur plans, with active airframes remaining operational.

The D140E is a variant of the Jodel D-140 Abeille. Other variants: D-140 Mousquetaire.
