About the 4

The Bede Aircraft 4 is an American fixed-wing homebuilt aircraft designed for a pilot and up to three passengers, utilizing a single engine. It suits amateur builders looking for a conventional aircraft configuration that can be built with minimal fabrication experience.

Crafted by Jim Bede, this design became an early pioneer in kitplanes, relying heavily on flat aluminum sheets and a unique panel-rib wing construction that initially doubled as a fuel tank. Later iterations updated the wing design to a more conventional metal structure. Thousands of plans and numerous completed examples established its widespread popularity among homebuilders.
