About the H-40

The Hoffmann H-40 is a German single-engine, fixed-wing prototype sport aircraft designed for leisure flying and pilot training. Built using composite materials throughout, the aircraft features a conventional low-wing monoplane layout with side-by-side seating for two people and a tricycle undercarriage. It relies on a flat-four piston engine to provide its power.

The designer created the aircraft by adapting concepts from a previous motorglider project, carrying over the T-tail and high aspect ratio wings while shortening the span. The manufacturer intended for this machine to compete directly against established sporting two-seaters in the marketplace. Despite securing financial investment from a regional pump manufacturer, the project ultimately failed to attract sufficient backing to move into commercial series production.

This page covers the Wolf Hoffmann Flugzeugbau H 40: the same aircraft under other designations.
