About the Raider
The Sky Raider Raider is an American single-seat, high-wing fixed-wing aircraft built for homebuilders. Designed with a strut-braced layout, it features a fully enclosed cockpit that permits flying during cooler weather, alongside slotted-style flaps and folding wings that ease transport and storage without requiring mechanics to disconnect the flight controls. The frame consists of a steel tube fuselage combined with aluminum tubing and doped fabric surfaces.
Ken Schrader engineered the aircraft, drawing inspiration from previous designs he worked on, and production was handled by firms in Caldwell, Idaho. The machine can comply with specific ultralight weight limits when paired with a light enough powerplant, though builders can also fit larger engines for other light aircraft categories. Additionally, operators can configure the airframe with floats or skis.
