About the SR2500

The Murphy Aircraft Mfg SR2500 is a Canadian high-wing monoplane intended for amateur home construction. Built using all-metal construction, it features braced wings and side-by-side seating arranged across two rows to accommodate four people. The design suits builders and recreational pilots seeking a rugged utility aircraft capable of handling varied utility and personal travel tasks.

Conceived as an enlarged version of the manufacturer's smaller Rebel model, the prototype first flew in late 1995 equipped with a powerful flat-six piston engine and a constant-speed propeller. While the prototype utilized tricycle landing gear, standard production kits typically feature a tailwheel configuration. Additional features included a removable rear bench for increased cargo capacity, a dedicated baggage door, and provisions for extended-range fuel tanks.
