About the C4

The Flight Design C4 is a German high-wing, single-engine fixed-wing light aircraft developed by Flight Design. Configured with a composite constant-speed propeller and a piston engine capable of running on alternative fuels, it is tailored as a four-seat cruiser for general aviation pilots.

The manufacturer formulated the aircraft's performance goals and features following an online survey directed at prospective buyers. Following the public unveiling of a full-scale exterior mock-up, the prototype completed its first flight in April 2015. Initial flight testing demonstrated that the design successfully met its projected performance targets and exhibited predictable stall characteristics. Program development involved multiple schedule adjustments and timeline extensions as the builder navigated regulatory certification considerations.
