About the 406
The Cessna 406 is a twin-engine turboprop utility aircraft designed for passenger and small cargo transport, as well as surveillance duties. Developed collaboratively by Reims Aviation and Cessna, this low-wing monoplane features conventional aluminium and steel construction and accommodates up to fourteen occupants, making it suited for commercial operations needing multi-engine compliance under regional regulations.
Originating as a development of the Cessna 404 Titan, the aircraft completed its maiden flight in the early nineteen-eighties and was manufactured in France until operations ended. A belly-mounted cargo pod could be attached for extra capacity. Following corporate changes, the type certificate transferred alongside plans for updated avionics and alternative engine selections.
