About the F 406
The F 406 is a French fixed-wing utility aircraft manufactured by Asi Aviation. Suited for passenger transport, small cargo hauling, and civilian or military surveillance, this fourteen-seat low-wing monoplane features a twin-turboprop layout powered by Pratt & Whitney Canada engines.
Developed in cooperation with Cessna by Reims Aviation, the aircraft first flew in 1983. It serves as a development of the Cessna 404 Titan and can be fitted with a belly cargo pod. Having two engines allowed it to meet European regulations for commercial instrument flight operations. Following company changes, production shifted to new systems and engine choices, while the type certificate transferred to allow spare parts production.
