About the FU24
The Air Parts FU24 is a fixed-wing utility aircraft designed with a single engine and a conventional layout. It was originally engineered to meet a New Zealand government specification for agricultural operations, making it well-suited for aerial topdressing and related farming duties.
Initially developed from a design by John Thorp in California, the prototype took its first flight in nineteen-fifty-four. Early models were shipped as kits for assembly in New Zealand before manufacturing rights were fully acquired locally, eventually leading to production under various company names. Over the decades, the type received numerous engine upgrades and turbine conversions, with nearly three hundred examples built for operators worldwide.
