About the Scamp
The Aerosport Scamp is a single-engine biplane originating from the United States, designed by Harris Woods specifically for home building. It features an open cabin, a T-tail, and a tricycle undercarriage layout, making it suitable for amateur builders and aviation enthusiasts.
The prototype performed its initial flight in August 1973, relying on a modified Volkswagen automotive engine for power. By 1993, plans had been distributed extensively, leading to completed aircraft not only across the United States but also active fleets in the United Kingdom. Additionally, a specialized agricultural crop-spraying version known as the Scamp B was developed using kits assembled in Colombia.
