About the TL-96 Sting

The Tl Ultralight TL-96 Sting is a single-engine fixed-wing ultralight originating from the Czech Republic. It is configured with a side-by-side two-seat enclosed cabin beneath a prominent single-piece forward-hinging canopy and rear fixed transparency. Built as an all-composite low-wing monoplane utilizing glass and carbon fibre reinforced plastics, it features unswept wings with inboard flaps, a tricycle undercarriage with faired wheels, and a moving tailplane with an anti-balance tab.

Developed in the 1990s, the aircraft can be fitted with several flat four engine choices, including powerplants from Rotax or Aero Prag driving either three-blade composite or two-blade wooden propellers. After taking to the air for its maiden flight, it achieved German certification before the turn of the century. European civil registers eventually recorded over a hundred examples of this model alongside its sister variant.
