The Zlin Aero A.S Z 142 is a Czech Republic type-certificated fixed-wing aircraft featuring a single engine. Built as an all-metal, low-wing machine with a side-by-side cockpit layout, it serves as a robust trainer and semi-aerobatic aircraft well-suited for military flight schools and aeroclubs.

Originating as an evolution of earlier wooden-and-mixed-construction trainers, the type first flew in the late nineteen-seventies and entered series production shortly after. It was originally powered by an inverted inline six-cylinder engine allowing for sustained inverted flight, while later variants introduced Western engines and constant-speed propellers to broaden its market appeal.
