About the F177RG

The Reims Aviation F177RG is a light, single-engine, high-wing fixed-wing aircraft featuring a four-seat layout. It serves general aviation pilots as a personal transport and aerial platform.

Conceived in the mid-1960s as a futuristic successor to an earlier popular high-wing design, the aircraft introduced modern technology such as a cantilever wing without supporting struts and a laminar flow airfoil. To give the pilot better forward visibility during turns, engineers positioned the seating ahead of the wing's leading edge, requiring a lighter engine and a stabilator for proper elevator control. Although initially intended to completely supersede the older model, marketing resistance led to the continuation of both lines, while the unique window layout and absence of struts made the aircraft particularly well-suited for aerial photography.
