About the 177

The Textron Aviation 177 is a type-certificated, single-engine high-wing aircraft built in the United States. It features a single-pilot seating layout and is designed for general aviation use, suiting private pilots and aerial photography operators alike.

Conceived as a modern successor to an earlier popular model, the aircraft introduced contemporary features including a cantilever wing without support struts and a laminar flow airfoil. To achieve an improved pilot field of view during turns, the seating position and wing placement were adjusted, requiring a lighter engine and a stabilator to manage the center of gravity. Production ran through the 1970s following its introduction.
