About the 6000 Speedster

The Rearwin 6000 Speedster is an American high-wing, enclosed-cabin sport aircraft designed to seat a pilot and passenger in a tandem arrangement. Powered by a single inline piston engine tightly faired into the airframe, it features a monoplane layout tailored for efficient sport flying.

Conceived during an economic downturn to follow earlier company models, the prototype made its initial flight in the mid-1930s. Certification was repeatedly delayed due to regulatory spin recovery requirements, prompting multiple redesigns of the flight controls, tail surfaces, and wing gaps. Production models eventually utilized a different inverted engine after the original powerplant went out of production.
