About the BK 117 A-3

The Mbb BK 117 A-3 is a twin-engine rotorcraft featuring an eight-seat capacity, built to suit passenger services, aerial work, and law enforcement duties.

Developed through a cooperative agreement between European and Asian aviation manufacturers, the program pooled distinct engineering expertise to handle airframe design and dynamic flight controls separately. Separate final assembly lines produced the aircraft for regional markets. High popularity led to refined, modern derivative versions that eventually succeeded the original baseline model in production.
