About the Mainair Blade
The Mainair Sports Mainair Blade is an ultralight fixed-wing trike suited for touring and recreational flying. It features an open cockpit with a cable-braced hang glider style high wing, tricycle landing gear, weight-shift controls, and a tandem two-seat layout powered by a single engine in a pusher configuration.
Produced initially by Mainair Sports and later by P&M Aviation following a corporate merger, the aircraft was engineered to meet international microlight standards. Its construction utilizes aluminium tubing combined with Dacron sailcloth and allows for various engine options. The type has achieved notable long-distance records, including epic intercontinental journeys and global circumnavigation flights piloted by aviation adventurers. Although production eventually concluded, support and spare parts provision continued.
