About the D.9 Bébé

The Jodel D 9 is a French single-seat ultralight monoplane designed specifically for amateur homebuilders. It features a wooden low-wing cantilever layout, an open cockpit, and a fixed tailskid undercarriage. Its distinct wing design combines an inner parallel section with tapered outer panels featuring strong dihedral.

Conceived by Jean Délémontez and Edouard Joly after the Second World War, the prototype first took to the air in January 1948. While primarily intended for kit construction by hobbyists, some examples were also produced commercially. The plans achieved international distribution, leading to hundreds of completed aircraft and paving the way for larger two-seat derivatives.
