About the Hawk

The Cgs Aviation Hawk is an amateur-built, fixed-wing aircraft featuring a single engine and a tandem two-seat configuration. Unlike many early light sport designs that evolved from converted hang gliders, it was engineered from the wheels up to function as a conventional airplane, incorporating a robust tubular roll cage surrounding the pilot. It suits recreational pilots and flight training schools seeking short-takeoff-and-landing performance.

The aircraft's development included extensive load testing of the airframe, wings, and control systems, along with landing gear drop tests. Notable design features include a curved boom tube that elevates the tail assembly above the wing downwash, standard flaps for improved climb and landing performance, and anodized aluminum tubing held together with pop rivets for field repairability. Various single-seat and multi-seat variants have been produced over the decades.
