About the Astir CS
The Grob ASTIR CS is a single-seat, glassfibre standard-class glider designed in Germany by Burkhart Grob. Suited for soaring enthusiasts and competitive pilots, the aircraft features composite construction, a spacious one-piece sideways-opening canopy, cantilever mid-wings, and a T-tail configuration.
Construction of the prototype began, leading to series production and numerous variant developments featuring retractable or fixed landing gear and water ballast systems. The fleet gained widespread popularity worldwide, and a notable example achieved a world absolute altitude record flown by an American pilot.
