About the DH-104

The Dehavilland DH-104 is a twin-engine, fixed-wing short-haul airliner featuring an all-metal construction. Designed to accommodate up to thirteen occupants including a crew of two, it suits regional airline operations, executive transport, and specialised duties such as air ambulance work.

Developed by a team led by Ronald Bishop as a post-war successor to older biplane designs, the aircraft incorporated innovations including a retractable tricycle undercarriage, flaps, and metal-bonding adhesives to reduce riveting and weight. Over five hundred examples were manufactured, with military variants also serving the Royal Air Force and Royal Navy under names such as the Devon.

This page covers the De Havilland DH 104 Dove 1B, DH-104 Devon, DH-104 Dove, DH-104 SERIES 5, DH-104 SERIES 8, DH-104 Sea Devon: the same aircraft under other designations.
