About the 402

The Cessna 402 is a twin-engine, fixed-wing light commercial aircraft designed to seat up to ten occupants. Built in the United States, it functions primarily as an unpressurized workhorse for regional cargo transport and air taxi services.

Developed from an earlier twin-engine design with the goal of improving single-engine handling and avoiding maintenance-intensive geared engines, the series underwent several evolutionary refinements including nose extensions for baggage and the adoption of high-output turbocharged engines. Later variants received redesigned wings and simplified landing gear systems. The cabin features easily removable seating to allow a rapid conversion between passenger and all-cargo configurations, making it popular among regional operators worldwide.

{# the label links to these aircraft for sale, built in that span. On the label and not the count: the bands count every aircraft on the market (on_market) while the grid shows only those with a photo (live), so the count is not a promise of how many cards appear. A band cached before year_min existed renders as plain text rather than a link to an unfiltered list. #}
