About the F150L

The Textron Aviation F150L is a fixed-wing, tricycle gear general aviation airplane designed for touring, personal use, and flight training. It accommodates a single pilot in a two-seat cabin and features an air-cooled, horizontally-opposed engine driving a fixed-pitch propeller.

Conceived as a successor to an earlier tailwheel model, the prototype made its maiden flight in the late nineteen-fifties. Distinctive design changes included the addition of tricycle landing gear, squared-off wing and empennage tips, and effective Fowler flaps. American-built units were supplemented by aircraft produced under license in France and assembled elsewhere. Over the course of its production run, thousands of examples were completed across multiple variants, featuring updates such as swept tail fins, larger doors, and increased baggage capacity before manufacturing was eventually suspended.
