About the 2000 Starship
The Beechcraft Starship is an American twin-turboprop business aircraft designed to seat six to eight passengers in a pressurized cabin. Produced by Beech Aircraft Corporation, it suits corporate and passenger transport needs. The aircraft features an unconventional layout with a canard wing design, extensive use of carbon-fiber composite materials, and pusher propellers, marking the first composite civil aircraft certified by the Federal Aviation Administration.
Development began when Beech explored a successor to its King Air line, partnering with Scaled Composites to build a proof-of-concept aircraft featuring a variable-geometry canard. The program involved significant development costs, complex composite manufacturing, and several airworthy prototypes used for aerodynamic, avionics, and powerplant testing. Production of the Model 2000 eventually ceased after a limited number of aircraft had been constructed.
