About the S-20 Raven

The As+ S-20 Raven is an American homebuilt aircraft created by Randy Schlitter and produced by Rans Designs. Intended for amateur construction from kits, this layout features a strut-braced high-wing monoplane configuration and an enclosed cabin seating two occupants side by side. Pilots access the interior through bowed-out, top-hinged doors designed to provide extra shoulder room. The aircraft is powered by a single tractor engine, with standard options including the Rotax 912ULS.

Crafted to combine elements from earlier company designs, the fuselage utilizes welded steel tubing paired with aluminum wings, and all surfaces are covered in doped aircraft fabric. Landing gear options include fixed conventional or tricycle arrangements. Publicly introduced at a major gathering, the type was slated for amateur assembly kits and an anticipated ready-to-fly light-sport version. Early operational history includes examples registered with federal aviation authorities.
