About the 7GCAA

The American Champion Citabria is a light single-engine airplane designed in the United States for flight training, utility tasks, and personal use. Featuring a fixed conventional gear layout and tandem seating for two occupants, it is built to sustain aerobatic stresses. Its name is derived from spelling the word aerobatic backwards.

The aircraft traces its design lineage back to the Aeronca Champ, incorporating a triangular welded metal fuselage truss covered in fabric alongside strut-braced wings. When introduced, it was the only commercially produced aircraft in the United States certified for aerobatics. Over the decades, production passed through several companies including Champion Aircraft and Bellanca before reaching American Champion Aircraft Corporation. Beyond aerobatic training, the Citabria has found use in bush flying, pipeline patrol, agriculture, and as a glider towplane.
