About the 7AC

The American Champion Aircraft 7AC is an American single-engine, high-wing monoplane built for flight training and personal use. Designed to compete with popular light aircraft of its era, it features a conventional tailwheel landing gear arrangement and tandem seating for two occupants inside a fabric-covered welded metal tube fuselage. Unlike some rival trainers, this aircraft allows the pilot to solo from the front position, improving visibility during ground operations and flight.

Developed in the mid-nineteen-forties as a postwar response to earlier designs, the type incorporates traditional triangular fuselage trusswork tracing back to earlier company models. Production spanned multiple decades across several manufacturing companies, with subsequent variations introducing alternate landing gear configurations and floatplane capabilities. The aircraft's long production run established it as one of the most enduring light airplane models worldwide.
