About the Ask 16
The Alexander Schleicher & ASK 16 is a German motor glider featuring a low-set, high-aspect-ratio wing and a welded tube, wood, and fabric structure. Designed by Rudolf Kaiser and built by Alexander Schleicher GmbH & Co, it provides side-by-side seating for two people beneath a transparent side-hinged canopy, and includes dual controls intended for primary training duties.
The prototype took to the air for the first time in February of the year 1971. A limited number of examples were completed for private owners and flying clubs, with a significant portion remaining active across multiple European nations decades later.
This page covers the Alexander Schleicher ASK 16 B, ASK-16, SCHLEICHER ASK 16: the same aircraft under other designations.
