About the Aeronca K
The Aeronautical Of America Aeronca K is a light touring aircraft originating from the United States. Designed as a high-winged machine with a fully enclosed cockpit seating two people side-by-side, it serves as a light airplane layout well-suited for recreational flying. Structurally, the aircraft features a welded steel-tube fuselage with fabric covering, along with strut-braced wings utilizing spruce spars and ribs.
Developed as a successor to earlier aircraft lines, the Model K first appeared in the late 1930s. It introduced several design modifications over its predecessors, including strut-braced wings instead of wire-braced ones and a conventional fuselage appearance. Throughout its production, various versions emerged featuring different powerplants such as Continental, Franklin, and Menasco engines, as well as alternative versions equipped with floats or skis. Surviving examples are preserved in several museum collections today.
