About the Aeronca C3
The Aeronica C3 is an American fixed-wing light aircraft designed for personal use and flight training. It features a high-wing layout with side-by-side seating for two occupants and is powered by a single horizontally opposed piston engine.
Evolving from an earlier predecessor, the type was introduced in the early 1930s and became known for its gentle handling qualities. A major redesign in the middle of the decade introduced a rounded fuselage shape, enclosed cabin, and revised undercarriage. Licensed production also took place overseas with a modified power plant. Manufacturing eventually ceased when changing airworthiness standards prohibited several of the aircraft's traditional construction methods.
