Epic Flight Academy Expands Fleet and Opens New Connecticut Location
The largest Part 141 flight school in the United States is growing its operations by adding two twin-engine aircraft and opening a new facility in Connecticut.
According to reports, Epic Flight Academy is establishing a new site at Danbury Municipal Airport in Connecticut, with a grand opening scheduled for October 17. The airport, located roughly 20 miles northwest of Bridgeport, is classified as a class D facility equipped with two runways designated as 08/26 and 17/35 alongside multiple instrument approaches. Founded in 1999, the institution maintains multiple locations and supports an active roster of approximately 600 students.
In addition to the upcoming facility launch, Tecnam and aviation publications announced on September 4, 2026, that Epic Flight Academy has acquired two Tecnam P2006T twin-engine aircraft. The school provides training under FAA Part 141 and Part 61 regulations, alongside operating Part 147 mechanic training. The newly acquired twin-engine machines are intended to strengthen multi-engine instruction capabilities and increase appeal among international students.
Josh Rawlins, COO of Epic Flight Academy, stated that the organization constantly seeks methods to reduce the cost of flight training while preserving a modern and technologically advanced fleet. Walter da Costa, Chief Sales Officer at Tecnam, noted that the fleet expansion aligns with the manufacturer's design philosophy of delivering affordable, state-of-the-art training.
The Tecnam P2006T is an Italian light aircraft featuring an all-metal construction, shoulder wings, and fully retractable landing gear. It accommodates four occupants and is powered by two horizontally opposed geared piston engines that can run on both automotive gasoline and traditional aviation fuel. Conceived as an economical multi-engine trainer, the type has achieved international airworthiness certifications and found use in military pilot training, specialized missions, and research into electric propulsion.
For students and pilots, the introduction of the P2006T offers a modern glass cockpit and efficient aerodynamics that bridge the gap between basic flight education and commercial airline careers. The aircraft's low operating costs and fuel efficiency support the school's goal of providing cost-effective education without sacrificing safety or advanced technology.
There are currently 11 Tecnam - C. Aeronautiche P2006T aircraft listed for sale on PlaneFile.
