Airframe

Clean airframe, never used for flight training and never sat for long periods.

Full l since new and registration history show this plane has lived in dry places for almost all its life like Montana, Arizona, North Texas.

Only two recurring 100hr ADs, both visual inspection and very easy to access. Good tread on all three tires. Red Rudder Cap STC replaced jelly jar beacon with aerodynamic fairing.

Comes with full tiedown kit

Engine

  • Lycoming O-320 E3D 150hp
  • Sensenich M74DM-0-58 prop, good condition.

Top overhaul with 4 new Millennium cylinders, new stock muffler assembly, new Plane Power alternator. 170 trouble free hours on these components.

Avionics

Steam gauge 6-pack panel, suction system in good condition.

Garmin 430 non-waas, overhauled in 2022, slaved to the CDI. Jeppensen database, nav card adapter comes with the plane.

NGT9000 Lynx transponder, fantastic unit with ADSB out, ADSB in (connect to iPad or use the moving map display), ADSB weather. Very useful for long XC weather decisions or busy airspace awareness.

JPI fuel flow gauge, accurate and reliable across all RPM ranges, desirable addition to the AA-1 series planes

New ELT in March 2025, lithium ion battery model.

Interior

Classic interior in decent shape, new seat foam and all plastics present.

Paint is very solid overall, some areas could use touch up, but it gets complimented on ramps often.

Remarks

Overall this is a great airplane. With light control forces, a sliding canopy that can be locked open in flight, and upgraded horsepower from stock, it feels like a little fighter. Combined with a nice panel for VFR and IFR training, this airplane makes for an economical time builder and a blast of a weekend warrior. There's a reason people talk about the Grumman Grin!
