About the Ykc
The Waco YKC is a type-certificated, fixed-wing aircraft built by Waco with a single engine. It features an enclosed cabin accommodating five people, accessed via four automobile-style doors, and has front bucket seats alongside a rear bench seat that can be removed for cargo transport. This layout makes it well suited for business travel or utility tasks. The aircraft utilizes a conventional biplane configuration with welded steel tubing construction.
Developed as a luxury business design following earlier cabin models, the aircraft achieved significant commercial success and later served in various roles, including clandestine operations during wartime and commercial work in remote regions. Over the decades, individual airframes underwent numerous modifications, engine upgrades, and restorations by museum staff. Notable examples were used for transport duties in harsh northern environments and historical military support missions.
