About the Ubf
The Waco UBF is an American fixed-wing biplane trainer belonging to the broader F series from the Waco Aircraft Company. It is built with a conventional layout accommodating three persons in tandem open cockpits and is powered by a single radial engine. This aircraft suits private owner pilots engaged in sporting aviation and basic flight instruction.
The F series was developed during the 1930s as a smaller, lighter replacement for earlier company designs, delivering comparable performance using more economical powerplants. Among the notable variants, the tandem cockpit UPF-7 was extensively adopted by the Civilian Pilot Training Program, with more than six hundred units built before production concluded during the Second World War. Later descendants of the family have continued in production through modern reproductions built to specific customer orders.
