About the F22A

The Taylorcraft F22A is a fixed-wing, single-engine light aircraft featuring a two-seat, side-by-side enclosed cabin layout. Designed with a high wing and strut-braced monoplane configuration, it suits recreational pilots seeking a practical machine with a tricycle undercarriage and fixed flaps.

Tracing its lineage back to earlier models from the early 1940s, the design evolved through successive variants featuring improvements such as wider doors, windows for ventilation, and quick-removal seats. The prototype first took to the air in the late 1980s, followed by production at a factory in Pennsylvania. Operations eventually halted following corporate bankruptcy after a limited number of airframes were constructed.
