About the SGM2-37

The Schweizer SGM 2-37 is an American fixed-wing motor glider designed for a crew of two in side-by-side seating. Built with a single engine and a low-wing layout, it suits roles ranging from sailplane training and glider towing to private touring, surveillance, and aerial inspection.

Developed at the request of the United States Air Force, the aircraft utilized components from existing models to save time and money, including a nose and cowling from the Piper Tomahawk and a tail from the Schweizer SGS 2-32. Nine examples were delivered to the United States Air Force Academy as the TG-7A. Later, some airframes served with the US Army and the US Coast Guard for covert surveillance and coastal patrols.
