About the Standard Cirrus

The Schempp-Hirth STANDARD CIRRUS is a type-certificated single-seat glider built in Germany. Designed for standard-class soaring, it suits competitive and recreational pilots looking for efficient gliding performance and features a laminar-flow airfoil section.

Created by the designer and test-flown, the aircraft became one of the most successful early fiberglass glider models. Modifications were introduced over time to refine low-speed handling and air brake effectiveness. In addition to primary manufacturing in Germany, numerous examples were constructed under license by various international firms in countries such as France and Yugoslavia before production concluded.
