About the 55 Twin Navion

The Riley 55 Twin Navion is an American twin-engine fixed-wing civil aircraft suited for operators needing reliable cross-country travel over mountainous terrain. Based on a single-engine airframe conversion, the D-16 variant accommodates a crew of one and utilizes a twin-engine layout with flat-four powerplants.

The modification program began as a custom project to replace a corporate aircraft with a more reliable twin-engine configuration. Following initial certification and refinement of the design—which included structural reinforcement, new engine nacelles, and modified vertical tail surfaces—several companies produced conversions before production concluded in the face of newer factory-built competition.
