About the PA-38 Tomahawk

The Piper PA-38 Tomahawk is a single-engine, fixed-wing aircraft built in the United States. Designed primarily as a two-seat training and touring aircraft, it features a low cantilever wing, a T-tail, and a fixed tricycle landing gear, suiting flight instructors and student pilots alike.

Developed in response to a detailed survey of flight instructors seeking realistic spin characteristics and heavier control pressures, the aircraft was produced over a multi-year span beginning in the late nineteen-seventies. Later production versions incorporated various cabin heating and trim updates. The type is powered by a horizontally opposed piston engine driving a metal fixed-pitch propeller.

This page covers the Piper PA-38-112, PA-38-112X, PIPER PA38: the same aircraft under other designations.
